Every great adventure begins with a spark, but not all of them follow the hero. Some stories are told by the ones left behind the quiet witnesses whose hearts pound in unison with a journey they can only observe.

This is one of those stories, and it begins not with me, but with the hero I know best: Nina. We grew up together, Nina and I, within the quiet, echoing stone walls of the orphanage – two nameless girls dreaming small, ordinary dreams.

But while I meticulously planned my little adventures, fate had grander, far more dangerous plans for her. This is the tale of how my sister-in-spirit stepped into legend, and how I watched, breathless, as her world exploded into magic.
